It could not have been a more perfect synergy of movie trailer and real life event as the first Independence Day: Resurgence TV spot landed in the middle of the Super Bowl. And much as the real life game featured a killer rendition of our national anthem that concluded with a fly over, so too did the beginning of the trailer for the Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin scripted sequel to the smash hit of two decades ago.
The rest of the trailer features a few familiar faces, such as Bill Pullman a the now former president and Jeff Goldblum as the scientist who was at the center of solving the mystery of how to defeat those invading aliens in the first Independence Day.
We also see a few new faces, such as Maika Monroe, Jessie Usher and Liam Hemsworth (Mockingjay Part 2) for the film that lands June 24 – ten days before our real life Indpendence Day!
Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner also return to the film franchise.
