British actresses Bella Heathcote and Lily James fulfilled a lifetime dream of playing a couple of the most famous Jane Austen heroines on the big screen — Elizabeth and Jane Bennet — but with a distinct twist.
The two star in the adaption of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and we caught up with them for an exclusive video interview.
The duo chatted up The Movie Mensch on battling zombies in period costumes and how much of a blast that was, as well as how the both of them grew up idolizing the iconic author and their utter delight in how Pride & Prejudice & Zombies will surely bring new fans to the Austen fold.
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies stars Heathcote and James, and a bevy of up-and-coming English stars (such as Matt Smith, Douglas Booth and Jack Huston) and takes the Austen classic and adds a few hundred thousand zombies to the mix. Our review is forthcoming, but the film is an utter blast and so many of the cheers that emitted from the audience during our screening were for lines that were practically taken right from Austen’s prose.
So, that feeling that Austen may be getting some new fans with this release… is as spot on as nailing a zombie right in the head!
Don’t miss the film that is bloody fun from start to finish when it lands in theaters this Friday!
