The first true Suicide Squad trailer is here and it is nothing short of supremely awesome. The Warner Bros. and DC Comics production has brought humor and so much more to their first true teaser for the David Ayer film that lands in theaters featuring the famed comic book house’s most notorious villains on August 5.
From the opening moments of the trailer, you know you are in for a treat. Ayers chose Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and interspersed with some choice scenes from his upcoming superhero (where the heroes are “the worst,” as the teaser says so well) film, the trailer editor has outdone themselves in terms of its musical mastery.
Bullet casings doubling with Roger Taylor’s frenetic drum rolls is just the tip of the sonic iceberg of excellence that we have with this latest Suicide Squad trailer.
The cast all gets their due, and we even get a further idea of the character that Joel Kinnaman portrays. He’s the poor fool who is tasked with bringing their baddies together on a team to accomplish the unaccomplishable.
Suicide Squad also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Bommerang, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adam Beach as Slipnot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jared Leto as the Joker.
From top to bottom the cast seems perfect, but Robbie solidly stands out as the bat (expletive) crazy Quinn and Leto appears to have given the criminally insane Joker a whole new level of lunacy.
