Nicholas Stoller wrote and directed a surprise comedy smash with Neighbors that only cost $18 million to make and by the time it was done, it had banked $270 million. Stoller has crafted a sequel, and smartly switched the brotherhood battle of the first film with a sorority at the center of what is creating madness for our happy couple, played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne.
In Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Rogen and Byrne are enjoying their life, now that Zac Efron and his fraternity have bveen kicked out of the house next door. Several years have passed, their baby is a little girl now and they’re expecting another. They decide the need to sell their house and movie into something a little more roomier when dozens of less than dainty college girls move in next door and decide to start their own sorority that is more frat-like than the tea party throwing institutions that live on campus.
The only person they know who can help them get rid of those loud living ladies? Yup, Efron returns to the fold and together they might just be able to send those sorority girls a-packing.
Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising stars Chloe Grace Moretz as the leader of the new sorority, with Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse back from the first film. Selena Gomez also joins the cast as a member of one of those more “uptight” sorority.
And lest we forget, Lisa Kudrow returns as the college dean who seems to have more on her plate than she can handle.
Look for the comedy sequel to hit theaters May 20. Check out the film’s first teaser poster, which was released today as well.
