Looks like those aliens from Independence Day didn’t take defeat all that well, cause they’re back! It may have taken them 20 years to get their mojo together for a return attack, but in the end they did it. Fox has released the first trailer from the highly anticipated, two-decades-in-the-making sequel to the 1996 smash hit and here is the teaser for Independence Day: Resurgence.
Although Will Smith is not back, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Sela Ward are back. Joining them to battle those nasy invaders is Liam Hemsworth (Mockingjay Part 2), Brent Spiner, Charlotte Ginsbourgh, Jessie Usher and Maika Monroe.
Fox released the following summary with the new trailer:
We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
Independence Day: Resurgence is from Emmerich and Dean Devlin and will land in theaters June 24, 2016.
