Mockingjay Part 2 Holds Off Creed & The Good Dinosaur: Box Office Report

Mockingjay Part 2 had a lot of competition in its second week of release. There was the Pixar film The Good Dinosaur, the Rocky spin-off Creed and the Daniel Radcliffe starring Victor Frankenstein. Turns out, none of the new films were a match for Katniss and her final pull of her bow.

Mockingjay Part 2 took in an impressive $51.6 million in its second week of release, bringing its total to $198.3 million. That’s still a wee bit below what Part 1 made last year. Pixar had to settle for their second second place debut in a row as The Good Dinosaur landed in the second spot with a $39.2 million debut, and a total of $55.3 million for the entire Thanksgiving holiday long weekend. Inside Out would eventually leap to the top spot, will The Good Dinosaur?

Third place belonged to the Michael B. Jordan starring Creed. The Rocky spin-off brought back Sylvester Stallone as The Italian Stallion and it certainly resonated with audiences and critics (check out our Creed review). Creed banked $30.1 million and $42.6 for the entire long weekend.

The latest Bond movie, Spectre, continue to roll as it came in in fourth place with $12.8 million (total cume: $176 million). Closing out the top five was The Peanuts Movie, which added $9.7 million to its total of $116.7 million.
