James Bond is still going strong as the 007 series’ 24th chapter stormed to its second straight box office victory. Spectre took in another $35.4 million in its second weekend to bring its total over the coveted $100 million mark… specifically $130.7 million.
The fourth Daniel Craig James Bond film did better in its second week than Skyfall did several years ago. Skyfall dropped $53.5 percent, while Spectre dropped exactly 50-percent. The film’s run at number one should end at two with Mockingjay Part 2 hitting theaters this Friday.
The Peanuts Movie did well as well, finishing second for the second week in a row. The film, based on the iconic Charles Schulz comic strip, banked another $24.2 million to bring its cume to $82.5 million.
The first new entry of the week to score a spot on the top five was the holiday heartwarming, Love the Coopers. The all-star cast, led by Diane Keaton and John Goodman, did pretty well for the early holiday release with $8.4 million.
Fourth place belonged to The Martian, whose $6.7 million took it over the $200 million mark.
Closing out the top five was another new entry, Warner Bros. The 33. The Chilean miners story sold $5.9 million worth of tickets in its first week.
