Prometheus Sequel Gets New Name, Title Treatment Released

When making Prometheus, Ridley Scott (currently enjoying the success of his The Martian) was coy as to whether or not it was a true prequel to his Alien film that rocked our world when it landed on screens in the late 70s. Then, we saw it and it clearly was at least in the same universe. For the sequel to Prometheus, Scott is not being so flirty with “is it or isn’t it?”

Scott announced previously that his sequel to the 2012 film would be called Alien: Paradise Lost. So, yeah, we are firmly in the Alien world. But now, everything about that Prometheus sequel is official. The director has announced that the follow-up to Prometheus would be called Alien: Covenant and will be released on October 6, 2017 and even gave the world a title treatment which The Movie Mensch can reveal below.

Also, Alien: Covenant is being called the second part of an Alien prequel trilogy.

Filming will commence in February 2016 in Australia with Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace reprising their roles.
