Star Wars The Force Awakens IMAX Poster: Welcome to Jakku

There is no question that The Movie Mensch’s most anticipated movie of the winter, heck year, is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And whether or not Disney screens it for critics doesn’t matter, the question is not if we’ll see it but when we will witness the latest chapter in the saga started by George Lucas and which IMAX theater we will be attending.

In honor of those of us who are eager to see J.J. Abrams contribution to the Star Wars world on the biggest screens on earth, Disney and Lucasfilm has released the film’s first IMAX poster.

It features Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her droid buddy BB-8 walking the ground of her planet, Jakku.

When photos first appeared of Abrams filming in the desert-y landscape early last year, rumors immediate said that the story would return us to Luke’s home of Tatooine. Then, we saw that first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer and realized that the desert planet wasn’t the only sandy world in the galaxy. Duh!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in December 18 in IMAX and standard format theaters, but we could recommend enough taking in the experience in the large format. After all, Abrams filmed part of the film using IMAX cameras!
