After the enormous success of Ride Along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, one can see why producer Will Packer and Universal Pictures would want to follow it up with a sequel. Hart and Cube had impeccable comedic chemistry and The Movie Mensch is just one of millions who would love to see these guys go at it for another round in the action comedy genre.
In news that is music to our ears, Universal has released the first trailer for Ride Along 2 and it shows that the terrific tandem of Cube and Hart has not lost any steam. This time out, they’ve added Olivia Munn and Ken Jeong to the mix, to further amp up the laughs as any good comedy sequel has to do.
Hart’s character is now a full-fledged cop and he’s paired with Cube to bring down a Miami drug lord who is bringing drugs, and the violence that comes along with it, into their beloved city of Atlanta. The pair have to head to Miami and team up with Jeong and Munn (two Miami cops) to bring down the drug lord (Benjamin Bratt).
Of course, all of this has to be done in time for the weekend nuptials of Hart and Cube’s sister! Wonder if that is going to happen?
Tim Story is back as director, as is Tika Sumpter as Cube’s sister. And Sherri Shepherd joins the cast as their wedding planner.
Look for the action and the laughs to continue when Ride Along 2 hits theaters January 15, 2016.
