Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts — that is not new. But it seems with each new Mission Impossible movie he tops himself. In Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, he famously scaled the world’s tallest building (in Dubai) and gave his co-stars heart attacks in the process.
This time out for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Cruise has boarded the side of a military transport plane… on the outside. Yup, the action star is hanging on to the outside of a plane that is speeding off the ground and into the sky.
Paramount has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette that teases the scene as Cruise and the film’s stunt coordinator share their thoughts as the death-defying stunt is about to happen.
What are the insurance premiums on this guy?!
This is just one of the stunts for the fifth Mission Impossible flick, directed by Christopher McQuarrie. There’s another… that Cruise learned to hold his breath underwater for six minutes so the helmer could get the shot in one take. Yeah, that.
Look for Cruise plus Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in theaters July 31.
