OK, huge fan of Guillermo del Toro, especially when he heads down the thriller/horror road. He’s the producer on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and has been championing the project for some. Now, director’s André Øvredal terrifying tale has unveiled its first trailer.
The film arrives from a series of spooked-out stories by Alvin Schwartz. The book, and thus the film, is a period piece with the action set in 1968. There is a young girl with terrifying secrets who lives in a mansion on the outskirts of a small town. A group of curious teens enter the delipidated home and once they find the titular book, all hell breaks loose.
This trailer could not be scarier if it tried. Cannot wait to see it on the big screen with a huge audience and catch the reaction.
Scary Tales to Tell in the Dark also stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn. It opens August 9.
