Golden Globe Nominations: Shape of Water Leads, Wonder Woman, Female Directors Snubbed

The 75th annual Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning and it would be the Golden Globes if their nomination reveal spurred a whole lot of head scratching and mystery as to how the Hollywood Foreign Press came up with their voting methods.

Leading the pack with seven nods is Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, followed close behind by Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri and The Post with six each.

Boss Baby scored a nod for Best Animated Feature and not The LEGO Batman Movie? Really? Also interesting is Christopher Plummer earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his work on All the Money in the World in a role he took over for Kevin Spacey merely weeks ago. Talk about immediately getting a reaction to fresh work!

In a stroke of genius, Ansel Elgort earned a nod for Best Actor for his work on the astounding Baby Driver, but in a move that is baffling to say the least, not one female director was nominated in a year that featured a plethora of worthy candidates.
