Welcome to a new weekly The Movie Mensch feature, entitled Songs We Need in Trailers! Today is our first musical track that just screams being edited into a film tease and it comes from Sir Sly. If High does not end up in some big time studio’s highly anticipated trailer, I would be shocked (and disappointed).
Its melodic menagerie would be conducive to in everything from an indie rom-com where quirky characters abound to a visually popping action feature whose preview images have audience’s jaws’ ajar. High would brilliantly serve as a help for a tale to find its dramatic pull in a short period of time (i.e. a trailer). The potential audience for the film would instantly be enraptured by its psychedelic yet super-modern vibe.
Sir Sly is an American band from Los Angeles. The trio is led by vocalist Landon Jacobs, who is backed up by instrumentalists Jason Suwito and Hayden Coplen. They first gained attention in 2013 with their debut single, Ghost.
The band reached a wider audience when their track Gold peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart that same year. In October of 2014 they scored huge when You Haunt Me landed at the number three spot on Sirius XM AltNation countdown.
With High, radio play has been slowly but surely emerging throughout the summer and that is just why the time is right for a trailer editing house to snatch up the rights to this puppy and feature the electric and eclectic song as the musical selling point for your next picture.
Just doing our part to help the movie trailers of tomorrow.
