Hot on the heels of those first The Magnificent Seven photos, Sony Pictures and MGM have released our first trailer for the film from director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer).
The town of Rose Creek is under siege, led by the evil industrialists Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard). To help, a local woman hires a band of seven men who are prepared to stand up to the army that is making life miserable for townspeople, despite being grossly outnumbered.
Leading the way is Denzel Washington as Sam Chisolm and his first recruit, Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt). Ethan Hawke is Goodnight Robicheaux, Vincent D’Onofrio is Jack Horne, Billy Rocks is played by Byung-Hun Lee and Vasquez is portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. And least we forget Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier), who appears to be quite proficient with an axe in the below teaser.
The film is penned by True Detective writer Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk (Fuqua’s screenwriter for The Equalizer). The film also features Matt Bomer, Billy Slaughter, Haley Bennet and Vinnie Jones. Of course it’s a remake of the 1960 classic of the same name, which in turn was a re-imagining of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.
Look for The Magnificent Seven to raise hell on September 23.
