Universal Pictures, along with Working Title, has unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated third film in the Bridget Jones series, Bridget Jones’s Baby. Think you have an idea what the film is about, think again. This isn’t simply a tale of our favorite British hopeless romantic bringing a little one into the world. Of course, if you know anything at all about her, it’s a little more complicated than that.
Renee Zellweger is back as Jones, and so too is Colin Firth as her love interest Mark Darcy. As we know, Jones married Darcy, but as the teaser below points out, things didn’t work out. Just as she meets a new dashing man (Patrick Dempsey), she learns she is pregnant. Who is the father, Firth or Dempsey? Or perhaps… it’s Hugh Grant’s character (who won’t be back in this film).
And yes, it appears that comedy does ensue.
Helen Fielding’s blockbuster book series has done quite well at the cinemas, grossing over $540 million at the box office. The first film’s director, Sharon Maguire, is back to helm the third.
Get ready for Bridget Jones’s Baby’s big delivery on September 16.
