AFI Top 10 Movies of 2015: Revealed!

‘Tis the time of year where top 10 lists permeate the world. Heck, The Movie Mensch recently revealed its Top 10 Comedies of 2015 and its Top 10 Trailers of 2015. Our best of the year movie list is coming soon, but today we have the iconic AFI revealing theirs. Who is their number one? Well, they don’t rank them, but it is an impressive list and we think several of those on the AFI top 10 will be Oscar nominees come this January.

BRIDGE OF SPIES

The AFI Awards, as it is commonly known, focuses on the creative and collaborative nature of the art form and as such, it is truly a meaningful honor for those anointed to receive.

“Since AFI’s founding in the White House Rose Garden 50 years ago, its mandate has been to celebrate our nation’s storytellers,” said Bob Gazzale, AFI President & CEO in a statement.

“This is the goal of AFI Awards — to bring together our community as colleagues, not competitors, and to shine a proper light on their collective efforts to entertain and enlighten the world.”

AFI MOVIES OF THE YEAR

  • The Big Short
  • Bridge of Spies
  • Carol
  • Inside Out
  • Mad Max: Fury Road
  • The Martian
  • Room
  • Spotlight
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • Straight Outta Compton

Like we said, we would be very comfortable if this ten films were the ten films that Oscar selected for Best Picture. In fact, it looks awfully similar to the list we will be crafting as our Top 10 of 2015, coming next week!
