SAG Nominations Announced: Love for The Big Short, Trumbo & Straight Outta Compton

The nominations for the SAG Awards have been revealed and let the talk as to how it effects the Oscars begin. Given the lack of critical love for the true Hollywood story Trumbo, it’s Oscar chances got a shot in the arm as the actor’s union nominated its lead for Best Actor (Bryan Cranston) and its entire cast for Best Ensemble.

Also getting a lot of SAG love was The Big Short and the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, thus increasing Oscar nomination chances for both those films.

Early Oscar favorite Spotlight also received a lot of attention, so look for that true story powerhouse to continue its run towards a Best Picture nomination.

Other actors nominated with Cranston include Johnny Depp for Black Mass, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl. On the actress side, Cate Blanchett scored for Carol, Brie Larson for Room, Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, Saoirse Ronan for Brooklyn and Sarah Silverman for I Smile Black.

The awards will be announced January 30, 2016 and yes, awards season is in full swing people! Here’s the full list!
