There is something about the landscape of World War II that seems to offer a never-ending source of storytelling opportunities. Indie studio Bleecker Street has unveiled the first trailer for the post-World War II set The Secrets We Keep.
Noomi Rapace stars as a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps, who firmly believes that the man living next door, Joel Kinnaman (Robocop), was a guard at the facility where she was held during the war. Chris Messina also stars, along with Amy Seimetz.
One would hardly forget the face of the individual who tortured you and that is where Rapace’s Maja finds herself as she has nightmares the moment that she comes to the realization that her neighbor is a war criminal.
What does she do?
Well, she kidnaps him and seeks vengeance, which probably includes a little bit of torture. He denies that he is who she thinks he is as the film progresses, moral compasses will be challenges, a marriage will be stressed (Messina plays Maja’s husband).
Both stars are stunning actors and witnessing them go tête-à-tête will be a huge appeal as it debuts in whatever theaters will be open on September 16. Look for it to land on VOD on October 16 for those who do not want to leave their quarantine home and head to cinemas.
The film is helmed by Yuval Adler, who co-wrote the script with Ryan Covington.
