The Way Back Getting Early VOD Release: Ben Affleck’s Awesome Flick Will Inspire


Since Americans have been asked to stay home and, in many instances, movie theaters are closed, Warner Bros. has a theatrical release on their hands that the world needs to see. Sadly, since movie going is a luxury we cannot afford right now, The Way Back is coming to home release early. Check out my The Way Back review and you’ll see, this is a film that not only features a career highlight performance by lead Ben Affleck, but it is an inspiring piece of cinematic art—something we all could use right now.

Affleck portrays an alcoholic high school basketball coach whose demons are a daily fight. How he manages that and simultaneously inspires a team of young men to dig deep and discover their best is brilliantly portrayed.

Affleck has a shorthand with the director, Gavin O’Connor. It comes through on every single frame of The Way Back. The two connected on The Accountant and O’Connor is also the guy who directed Miracle—a sports movie to top all sports movies. Between his cinematic shorthand with Affleck and his command of the sports movie milieu, this is one don’t miss movie.
