Latest Jungle Cruise Trailer Expands the World of the Latest Disney Ride to Screen Effort

Where the first Jungle Cruise trailer was a true tease, the latest one today from Disney delivers much more of the plot and the … well, reason behind Emily Blunt taking Dwayne Johnson’s boat on this Jungle Cruise.

The legendary Disney theme park ride is the latest to become a big picture flick, what with the success of Pirates of the Caribbean, we’re actually surprised Disney hasn’t tackled every ride they have! Can you imagine It’s a Small World as Vin Diesel goes across the globe seeking the common thread that unites us all?! Hey, it could happen.

Blunt (soon to be seen in A Quiet Place: Part II) portrays an Indiana Jones’ type of science-based adventurer and the key to her discovery lies in the Amazon. Upon arrival in South America, Blunt’s character needs a boat. If we were heading into the unknown and there was even the slightest hint of peril, when a figure of The Rock’s stature approached with a boat, he’d absolutely be our guy.

One of our favorite directors, Jaume Collett-Sera (The Shallows, Non-Stop), is behind the camera for Jungle Cruise, working from a script by Smallfoot writer John Requa, Focus screenwriter Glenn Ficarra and Logan writer Michael Green.

There is a supernatural element to the story as teased by the above trailer that has piqued the intrigue meter on this upcoming summer flick. The chemistry between Blunt and Johnson appears to be top notch and another aspect of the flick that comes through in this trailer is a certain level of humor. That’s always a plus to keep the action fresh, audiences need that ebb and flow and Disney has always been one to effectively utilize that aspect of filmmaking.

The latest trailer also gives us a good look at Jesse Plemons’ character. Jungle Cruise also stars Paul Giamatti, Edgar Ramirez and Jack Whitehall.

Look for Jungle Cruise to cruise into theaters on July 24.
