The trailer for The Revenant has landed and it’s everything we expected and so much more. Since the film was announced, the buzz has been that this finally would be the role that got star Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar. Lord knows he deserved it for The Wolf of Wall Street and any number of other performances that this wildly talented thespian has turned in over the years.
DiCaprio stars as a man who is part of a hunting team in the Old West. When he is attacked by a bear, he is left for dead by his crew (and even buried alive). When he awakes, he is not just a man consumed by revenge… something has changed him. DiCaprio is a man possessed by the thought that he already died once and came back, and there is nothing that scares him now.
The Revenant is inspired by true events and comes from the Oscar-winning director of last year’s Best Picture winner, Birdman — Alejandro G. Iñárritu. It also stars Tom Hardy, Will Poulter and comes from the novel by Michael Punke.
Look for The Revenant to hit theaters Christmas Day in limited release, before opening wide on January 8, 2016.
