Anchored by a stellar pair of leads, the first trailer for The Forgiven has arrived. Prepare for a reaction that is seismic. Jessica Chastain (recent Oscar winner) and Ralph Fiennes star in the film based on the novel by Lawrence Osborne from 2012 that shares the film’s moniker.
The Forgiven chronicles the life of a pair of London residents who are beyond flush with cash—Jo and David Henniger—who drive through the desert of Morocco on their way to a friend’s wedding and tragedy strikes. They hit someone.
Do they call the authorities? Nope. Instead, they bring the dead teen boy’s body with them to their pal’s home. The rich couple tosses their influence around when they work together with local authorities to cover up the entire crime.
Do you know who will not let this go? The victim’s parents, that’s who and they are going nowhere until they achieve justice. Now, what form that redemption arrives in, but we have a feeling that this is a tale that won’t exactly be black and white.
Look for The Forgiven in theaters only on July 1, 2022, just in time for some real fireworks.
