Disney+ released today, in honor of Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be with You) a stunning look at their eagerly awaited show years in the making—Obi-Wan Kenobi and a new poster (below).
The show will premiere on the Disney+ streaming service on Friday, May 27 with the first two episodes. After that, the streamer will debut a new show each Wednesday until the finale on June 22.
The story, firmly in Star Wars canon, begins a decade after the universe-altering events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi came face to face with his most chilling defeat at the hands of his pupil Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen). This Skywalker embraced the dark side and became one of the strongest and most feared Sith Lords.
Ewan McGregor reprises his role as the legendary Jedi Master of the show’s moniker, and it also (surprise!) marks the return of Christensen as Darth Vader. Additional cast members include Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow, and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, McGregor, Deborah Chow and Joby Harold.
