The Hater Exclusive Interview: Ali Larter Dishes Political Satire that is Ripe for Our Times!

The stunningly talented Ali Larter sat down with The Movie Mensch for an exclusive chat about her latest film, the political commentary/satire from her former assistant (of all people!) Joey Ally, The Hater.

Ally, the writer/director, not only conceived of the film but starred as the main protagonist as well.

The auteur phoned Larter immediately after the script was completed and informed her that she had written the role of Victoria, a real go-getter of a local Texas journalist who is determined to get to the bottom of this highly contested Lone Star State political race.

She has starred in such films as several of the Final Destination movies and of course, the movie she gave up going to NYU for and the one that made her a star, Varsity Blues. She has also starred in several Resident Evil flicks, House on Haunted Hill, Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair, and of course, the television hit, Heroes.

In The Hater, Larter portrays a local news reporter who has a nose for stories that need to be reported to her audience. The emergence of Ally’s Dorothy in the race for a seat in the state legislature has drama and intrigue written all over it.

After viewing the delightful and impeccably monikered The Hater, it’s easy to see Ally’s conceiving of Victoria for her friend and mentor (and former employer), Larter. The latter also shares, after appearing in several Texas tales, what it is about stories from the Lone Star State, that are so compelling.

Watch the video above and witness our in-depth interview with the actress that will have not one, not two, but THREE films coming out in 2022. Looks like this won’t be the first and only chat The Movie Mensch has with Larter this year! Until then, check out Ali and Ally in The Hater in selected cinemas and is also available on Amazon Prime.
