The first, and heavily anticipated, trailer for the third Tom Holland starring as Spider-Man movie is finally here!! Spider-Man: No Way Home seems like such a fitting ending to the trilogy that started with Spider-Man: Homecoming and continued sending the whole gang to Europe with Spider-Man: Far From Home.
At the conclusion of Spider-Man: Far From Home, his former boss (Oscar winner J.K. Simmons) revealing to the world what of course, something we all know: Peter Parker is Spider-Man. “How do you tell everyone that you are Spider-Man,” Holland says at one point in the trailer to his co-star/love interest MJ (Zendaya). “Now, everybody knows.”
It also features (heavily) the presence, magic, and wisdom of a certain Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and as Marvel has done before, look for two unlikely souls to pair up and have it be the best thing since sliced bread. Simply from this three-minute trailer alone, one can tell that there is immense and previously unspoken chemistry between the members of The Avengers.
Whereas the first two films explored his relationship/mentorship with Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.), after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man needed something and someone to fill that hole. One could argue, even though it is merely three minutes of a full-length picture, that this is a connection between two people that ought to be cinematically intriguing at its worse and mind-blowingly awesome at its best.
The Spidey trailer leaked online yesterday and kudos to all of you who, despite immense curiosity and passion for this film that surprisingly did not have a trailer before now. Sony and Marvel’s legal team did their best to contain the situation which makes the excellence of the trailer all the more sweet,
Also, with the success of the animated (and Best Animated Feature Oscar-winning) Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) the ideas started with the studio brass to have some mystery camos in this motion picture that will have fans screaming with delight in the aisles.
Spider-Man: No Way Home not only brings back Holland, Zendaya but also Aunt May (Marissa Tomei), Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, Peter’s BFF and “guy in the van” Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) as well as Tony Revolori’s Flash Thompson, Cobie Smulders returns as Agent Maria Hill and a guy who appears to be in everything lately (which is beyond brilliant), the one and only Hannibal Buress.
Then, there’s the villain—who was arguably the best baddie in the Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films, the one and only Alfred Molina as the only and only Doc Ock.
Look for Spider-Man: No Way Home to hit theaters just in time for Christmas, December 17. Merry Christmas to us!
