It’s not simply a trailer, the video released by Paramount this morning is also a featurette that entertains while it enlightens us into the world of G.I. Joe and those who share his universe.
Snake Eyes lands in theaters on July 23 and features Golding’s titular character, along with showcasing the unbreakable bond between him and Andrew Koji’s Storm Shadow. Director Robert Schwentke is behind the camera and appears to have a firm hand on not only the delivery of the narrative but overseeing the choreography and execution from the action sequences—no easy task.
The concept of the film focuses on Snake Eyes and his decision (despite being a self-described loner) to join an ancient Japanese clan entitled the Arashikage. See, Snake Eyes saved the heir to their ruling class, Storm Shadow.
Think Cobra will get involved? I’d bet on it!
Besides being an action vehicle for Golding and gang, it looks to also be a so-called “buddy movie” with the pairing of Golding with Andrew Koji. I realize this is just a trailer, but one can sense the chemistry from the two leads with massive panache.
Our baddie goes by the name of The Baroness (Úrsula Corberó), who also happens to be a top Cobra operative.
Also joining the cast is an actress who appears to be everywhere lately, and boy is that a good thing. Yes, The Movie Mensch is a huge fan of Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and couldn’t be more thrilled with the casting of her as Scarlett.
Look for Snake Eyes in theaters only on July 23.
