No Sudden Move Trailer: Steven Soderbergh Presents a Star-Loaded Crime Thriller

When it comes to electric ensemble crime thrillers, director Steven Soderbergh is no stranger. Heck, the man who gave us Oceans 11 and its two sequels are back in that milieu with the first trailer for his latest, No Sudden Move.

It will debut on HBO Max and takes us to 1954 Detroit, where a city’s landscape is changing, racially, economically, and socially. Don Cheadle stars as Curt Goynes, who is tapped to hold a family at gunpoint as part of a larger plan to rob something else. In a classic things are not what they seem, a rabbit hole is opened, and down Curt goes, as well as this all-star cast in this period piece drama that we get a sizzling sense of in the below trailer.

Cheadle is joined in the cast by frequent Soderbergh collaborator, Benicio Del Toro (he won an Oscar for Traffic), Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin (Succession), Noah Jupe, Bill Duke, Amy Seimetz, Ray Liotta, David Harbour (Stranger Things), and Jon Hamm.

The synopsis for No Sudden Move:

Set in 1954 Detroit, No Sudden Move centers on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city.”

Look for No Sudden Move on HBO Max on July 1.
