Zack Snyder, fresh off the success of the Zack Snyder Justice League cut, has released the official trailer for Army of the Dead. The story follows a crew who decides to knock off a casino… in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Premise alone… I’m in!
The film will premiere on Netflix and stars Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, My Spy) as the leader of this crew and with him in the lead, you just know that it’s going to succeed. Well, nothing is guaranteed, and the way that Snyder and his crew know that is simply by observing these undead. They’re smart. They’re organized and most importantly, they’re fast. OK, good luck guys, you do your thing, we’re just gonna kick back and enjoy this popcorn flick that has thrills written all over it.
The craziest part of the above trailer may not be attempting a casino heist in the middle of a zombie attack. It is putting Kenny Rogers’ titanic hit The Gambler in the trailer and having it intertwine throughout the drama and action as the three minutes of the trailer does its thing. It works. My goodness does it work.
In addition to Bautista, the cast includes Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Tig Notaro, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Garret Dillahunt (Deadwood), as well as Raúl Castillo, Huma Quereshi, Samantha Win, Richard Cetrone and Michael Cassidy.
Look for us to join the Army of the Dead when it premieres on Netflix on May 21 (and select theaters).
