The first teaser trailer for the HBO documentary Tina has arrived and it is something else. The flick is a chronicle of the life story of one of pop music’s greatest success stories. Born in a farmhouse on a cotton farm, she rose to become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in the entire world. But it was far from easy, in fact, it was anything but.
HBO, fresh off the stellar docs Tiger and The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Hart are carving out quite a niche with their documentaries that dig deep and entertain while they enlighten.
If there was a life story that warranted the documentarian’s camera it is that of Tina Turner.
The teaser features the superstar narrating while images of her career ever-so-slowly pan by, all the while, her soulful voice sings the opening (slow) part of Proud Mary (Rolling on the River) as the life visuals continue ever so quickly until the teaser ends… and does its job. It teases us big time.
We want more.
