The first look at the latest from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan film has arrived in the form of a Super Bowl trailer that premiered during the big game that saw Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the whole enchilada. Old is teased with its first trailer from Universal Pictures and Shyamalan and it has us intrigued, to say the least.
As is par for the course, little is known about the film from the man who gave us Split and Unbreakable (and of course, The Sixth Sense). That is exactly how we like it with his films. The least known, the better.
This first look at his latest film puts the tease in teaser.
We do know this much… it is adapted from a graphic novel. We also know that it focuses on a family on vacation at a secluded beach and it appears from the trailer above that this tropical holiday could be more hell than heaven.
Old stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Luca Faustino Rodriguez, and Thomasin McKenzie. That fab four are our central clan. There’s something going on at this beach and it appears to age people quickly… like scary quickly. Crazy good premise, no? Old also features the thespian talents of Alex Wolff, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, and Kathleen Chalfant.
Also revealed was the film’s synopsis for the flick scheduled to arrive in theaters July 23.
“This summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly… reducing their entire lives into a single day.”
