The first trailer for the latest from director George Clooney has arrived. The Midnight Sky is a sci-fi epic that takes place after the earth suffers some sort of apocalyptic event and a crew of astronauts (David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, and Felicity Jones (Rogue One).
The teaser trailer is absolutely stunning and yes, this would have been one of those films that would have been delightful to experience on the big screen. But we live in precarious times and thanks to the solid home entertainment systems many of us possess, this will look amazing at home on Netflix when it bows on December 23.
Clooney stars as a scientist stuck at a desolate Arctic research station who is desperate to warn the astronauts out in space that something horrific has happened one earth. Connecting with them is the key to the survival of the human race. They must find a place for those of us left on earth to call home.
The Midnight Sky looks stunningly gorgeous. The director’s keen eye is blowing doors with the production design and cinematography of his latest.
If Clooney’s film hits close to home, it has to be that moment in the trailer where he looks at the map of the world and the red circles slowly but purposely expand from the world’s cities as it spreads across the planet. Sound familiar?
