The first trailer for the “continuation” of The Craft has arrived. The Craft: Legacy is a direct follow-up to the 1996 movie. If there was anyone in Hollywood to do this justice, it would be Blumhouse and don’t you know—that’s who’s putting this out, along with Columbia Pictures.
The first film featured a girl, Robin Tunney, who moved to a new school only to discover that she was a witch and lucky for her, a coven that included Fairuza Balk, Rachel True, and Neve Campbell was there to great her.
The new one seems to follow the same basic premise. This time it’s Hannah (Cailee Spaeny) who moves to a new town with her mom (Michelle Monaghan) when she moves in with her boyfriend (David Duchovny) and his three sons. Almost immediately, she feels different.
Then, she meets three friends—Lovie Simone, Zoey Luna and Gideon Adlon)—who help her find her true self, and her inner witch.
The film comes from writer-director Zoe Lister-Jones and if you look closely at the trailer, there is a firm connection to the original. What exactly that lineage will be, well, you’ll just have to tune in to The Craft: Legacy when it premieres on-demand on October 28.
