The first trailer for Kajillionaire from Focus Features has landed! Writer-director Miranda July’s latest is a comedy in the Wes Anderson school of familial dysfunction hilarity.
Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) stars as the daughter of Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger. Since she was a child, she’s been a part of the family business—scamming, stealing, and basically anything that is achieved from “skimming” off the top,” as Jenkins says in the below trailer.
Things drastically change when the clan woos a stranger (played by Gina Rodriguez) during a not-so-thought-out heist. The newbie to their grifter collective changes everything, something they never could have foreseen.
Winger and Jenkins look dazzling together, as off-kilter as we’ve seen either actor portray. Currently, we are of the mind that Wood can do no wrong. What she is asked to do in Westworld is nothing short of a thespian nirvana. Watching her, albeit for only a few minutes, in July’s latest film foray, is pure joy. She is clearly the cinematic child of Winger and Jenkins.
Cannot wait for this flick to arrive. The word right now is that Kajillionaire is set to premiere in theaters on September 18. But, if things keep going like they are, do not be surprised if the latest from Focus Features lands on VOD.
