Netflix has unleashed the first trailer for their upcoming release, Project Power. The Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring thrill ride arrives from the directors of Nerve, Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost.
The film finds a street drug that has taken over The Big Easy and one can see why. Once you take it, you are granted unlimited superpowers for exactly 600 seconds, aka 5 minutes. Wild idea, no?
Project Power comes from a screenplay by The Batman scribe, Mattson Tomlin.
Foxx is a former soldier, whose daughter is abducted by a gang of thugs who he believes is behind the creation and distribution of the drug. Think our warrior is going to sit idly by and let the police investigate the kidnapping while the attempt to find her. He joins forces with a dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a police officer (Gordon-Levitt) to rain down hell on New Orleans until his baby girl is safe and sound.
Gordon-Levitt is fresh off the Oscar nomination worthy turn in 7500 and Foxx is a natural at action, comedy…you name it. Together, with a wildly original story, Netflix looks to have another winner after The Old Guard in the action milieu. Look for it on August 14.
