Olaf Sings a New Song to Unite Us All: I Am With You … Cue the Tears

There is no one quite like the Walt Disney Animation folks to hit you firmly in the feels when you least expect it and most need it. That is exactly what happened today as Josh Gad channeled his Frozen alter ego Olaf and sang the new Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (they wrote all the songs for the Frozen and Frozen 2) track.

Not only does it feature your kids’ favorite snowman, but a slew of emotively rich scenes from many a Disney classic, such as Moana, The Lady and the Tramp, The Lion King, and even Hercules.

The release is part of the At Home with Olaf series of shorts that debuted today on Disney Animation’s YouTube channel and will be on Disney+.

The song is incredibly endearing and will certainly touch your heart. Olaf never mentions being stuck at home in quarantine, but the lyrics, coupled with the sonic succulence of the music combine to give kids (and us adults) some hope that we are, in fact, not alone.

It starts with Olaf gazing out at the empty streets of Arendelle, turning around, and heading into the castle. He pulls up a chair to a desk, pulls off one of his pieces of charcoal, and starts writing a note. Don’t be surprised if you are a bit teary-eyed (or even sobbing) at the end of this because truth be told … to every single person I know and love … I Am With You. (P.S., and always will be).

I miss you, I miss you terribly.
