The first full length trailer for The Big Lebowski spin-off from John Turturro is here and boy does The Jesus Rolls.
Who could forget Turturro’s scene stealing turn as Jesus, what with the Gypsy Kings’ Hotel California playing in the background. It’s iconic, man! Now it’s been a few decades and as we catch up with Jesus, he’s just getting out of jail and he’s hooking up with an old friend, Petey (Bobby Cannavale). On their way to stealing cars and having a blast, the pair strike up an unlikely romance with a so-called shampooist named Marie (Audrey Tatou).
Turtorro wrote and directed the film and this thing, it should be pointed out, has no involvement whatsoever from the Coen Brothers who crafted the Lebowski masterpiece. Yet, this still seems to have that sentiment and there is something about the free-wheeling partnership of Jesus and Petey, along with Marie, that looks like a ball.
Plus, there’s this cast! It includes Jon Hamm, Pete Davidson, Christopher Walken and Susan Sarandon. Look for the flick, inspired by the French farce Les Valseuses, in theater February 28 and The Jesus Rolls will also be available on demand on March 6.
