Ghostbusters: Afterlife Teases Sequel Decades in the Making

The first Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer has arrived and it’s a tease … and that’s exactly what it is supposed to do. Jason Reitman, following in his father Ivan’s footsteps, co-wrote and directed the Ghostbusters sequel that is years in the making.

It stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace as a family of three who move to the middle of nowhere. It just so happens to be an abandoned farmhouse that belonged to the family patriarch, who we believe to be Harold Ramis’ character. Together, the clan is rummaging through grandpa’s old stuff (much of which is ghost-related), just as an “event” is occurring in the town that threatens the peace and quiet of small town, America.

The kids are too young to remember what happened in NYC all those years ago with the original Ghostbusters, but their summer school teacher, played by Paul Rudd, remembers and he serves—it appears—as their guide through all this supernatural stuff.

This much we know is true … the original cast will return, i.e. Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts would appear in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. We’ll see if Bill Murray appears! Look to be comically spooked anew on July 10, 2020.
