The final trailer for Joker from Warner Bros. has landed and it, coupled with that first Joker trailer, has us firmly believing this flick from Todd Phillips has what it takes to be firmly in consideration for Oscar gold.
The performance of the esteemed actor who is charged with bringing a character that we have already seen on the big and small screen dozens of times in various incarnations, is sublime.
Joaquin Phoenix firmly puts himself in the Best Actor race with this turn, and yes, that is all gleaned from a couple of two-minute teasers. If you remember, Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight.
Could this be a historic moment where a performer wins an Oscar for playing the same role that already won an Oscar? We’ll see how the rest of the field plays out …
