After that surprisingly awesome Rambo: Last Blood trailer bowed earlier this summer, one could say that The Movie Mensch was really eager to see the next one that dropped. Well, wait no more as the latest Rambo: Last Blood teaser has arrived and it does a fantastic job of painting an epic conclusion to a legendary journey that began in that Decade of Decadence, aka the 80s.
Sylvester Stallone returns to the role of John Rambo, a Vietnam War vet who took his frustrations with that war out on anyone who got in his way, including the Soviets in Afghanistan in Rambo and a slew of other baddies in the handful of other Rambo movies that have entertained audiences over the years.
Stallone has long teased a return to one of the roles that made him famous, but in what form and the who, what, why, where and when questions of that Rambo tale remained a mystery. Then, the film got the green light and in what seems like no time at all, we have ourselves a nifty little concept for a final film in the Rambo canon.
The story follow’s Rambo’s niece. Gabrielle (Yvette Monreal) is kidnapped by a number of South American evil doers who clearly have no idea the wrath that is coming at them. Nobody takes a member of the Rambo family and lives to tell the tale. I mean, come on!
Rambo is off on a rescue mission and if in the process there is a bit of revenge, well then … all the better.
Last Blood also stars Adriana Barraza, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Oscar Jaenada (The Shallows) and is helmed by Narcos director Adrian Grunberg. Haven’t seen Narcos? What are you waiting for?!!
Rambo: Last Blood brings the justice to theaters September 20.
