The red band trailer for Ready or Not has arrived from Fox Searchlight.
Samara Weaving (Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri) stars as a bride whose activities on her wedding night include a familial tradition that is not the normal “what you do on your wedding night” activity. Let’s just say that Hide and Seek has never been so scary!
Another thing that stands out from this teaser is a belief that Weaving has delivered a bride character that has to stand alongside Uma Thurman’s The Bride in Kill Bill, Volume 1 and Volume 2. Yes, we get that from just two minutes of tease for Ready or Not.
See, Weaving’s onscreen husband comes from a family of uber-wealthy folks who made their fortune crafting board games. Looks like our bride better sharpen her knives because this incarnation of Hide and Seek could be deadly.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett bring to life a script from Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The danger feel from the teaser is palpable and it’s rare that a teaser has us turning to secure our seat when the film arrives, but that is exactly our sentiment from this flick that lands in theaters August 23.
Ready of Not also stars veteran actress Andie MacDowell, as well as Mark O’Brien, Henry Czerny and Adam Brody.
