The first trailer for Stuber, an action buddy comedy starring Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) looks to be a surprise comedy hit of the summer.
Nanjiani stars as an Uber driver who picks up Bautista’s LAPD officer and the former gets sucked into the latter’s crime-filled world as he winds up being much more than his happy go lucky rideshare driver.
The film comes from Goon director Michael Dowse (clearly someone who handles comedy that thinks outside the box). Bautista’s officer is on the hunt for a killer and Stu (Nanjiani’s Uber driver … this the name of the movie, Stuber) seems to have little choice in the matter and winds up having the wildest day of his life.
Fox has unveiled the trailer above and I have a good feeling about this. The comedic chemistry between the two leads is pitch perfect and it’s nice to see both actors doing something slightly different than what we’re used to seeing them do.
The July 12 arriving flick also stars Karen Gillan, Iko Uwais, Betty Gilpin and Natalie Morales.
