The latest Dark Phoenix trailer has dropped, and one question has emerged after witnessing it. How on earth are the X-Men going to battle Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix and live to tell the tale?
She is all powerful and from the elements shown off in this teaser, Grey (Sophie Turner) kills off a beloved X-Men character (note the “she was my friend” dialogue and the rain soaked funeral—all hallmarks of a superhero death) that should please Jennifer Lawrence who appears to be done with the X-Men series anyway.
What’s fascinating about this film is that it is the final chapter in the Fox X-Men saga before it heads over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chances are high that the Disney owned company will make a fresh start with the X-Men or make them a part of the Avengers in the future—or most likely both.
One thing is for sure for this June 7 release, the cast is sensational. Michael Fassbender is back as Magneto and so is James McAvoy as Charles Xavier with Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Red Lotus (Andrew Stehlin), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Selene (Kota Eberhardt). Lest we forget our favorite Quicksilver, Evan Peters and Tye Sheridan’s Cyclops.
