One of the best Super Bowl trailers came to us from some pretty astounding cinematic minds. James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez have joined forces to deliver Alita: Battle Angel.
Cameron is producing, while Rodriguez wields his camera as director in this tale that looks all sorts of inspiring.
Alita (Rosa Salazar) has awoken from a long slumber and has no memory of who she is and where she came from. All she knows is that she was “fixed up” by Ido (two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz). She is party cyborg/part human and her greatness is just being teased.
As the heroine starts to figure out who she is and what her potential is, greatness starts being a real possibility for her protagonist. Issue is, the powers that be are weary of her and what she represents to the populous at large. After all, they are ruling this futuristic earth with an iron fist and the idea of expressing one’s desire for freedom is usually met with death and destruction.
Alita: Battle Angel also stars current Oscar nominee (and previous Oscar winner) Mahershala Ali, Jackie Earle Haley, Jennifer Connelly and Ed Skrein. Look for it on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
