The Ballad of Buster Scruggs comes from writer-directors Joel and Ethan Coen. The guys who gave us True Grit and No Country for Old Men are no strangers to the western milieu, but with their first foray into releasing a film directly on Netflix, this is something unique on many, many levels.
The film’s latest trailer has arrived, and it has only increased our anticipation for the latest from the Coen brothers into the stratosphere.
Initially, the project was going to be a six-part series for the online network. But, somewhere along the way, the brothers decided to edit this thing together and release it as a major motion picture. Smart move, given what we’ve seen so far from the film that stars Tim Blake Nelson (of O Brother, Where Art Thou fame). He is the title character and what is so terrific about the below teaser is how it introduces us to the means with which this story will be told. Yes, it is still an anthology and as such, expect something utterly fascinating from the cinematic brothers who are always pushing the film envelope.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs also stars James Franco, Brendan Gleeson, Grainger Hines, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, Chelcie Ross, Tom Waits, Saul Rubinek, Jonjo O’Neill, Willie Watson and Jefferson Mays.
Look for the flick to be in theaters on November 8 and then on Netflix on November 16.
