Summit Entertainment has unveiled the first trailer for the latest thriller that stars Liam Neeson who is out for justice. Cold Pursuit is a remake of the 2014 Norwegian thriller, In Order of Disappearance.
Neeson does his thing as a regular guy who gets sucked into an extraordinary world where lives are on the line and he rises to the occasion. The patriarch of a loving family, he makes his living driving a snowplow. Laura Dern portrays his wife (she’s always awesome). Their world comes crashing down when the couple’s son perishes from a drug overdose.
Neeson digs deeper into his son’s death and winds up coming head-to-head with a drug cartel as he extols his classic brand of justice.
I like a Neeson early year thrillers (remember The Grey?) and this one has something that those others don’t—a dark sense of humor. That could be the key to this entire action-thriller vehicle working where some of his recent efforts in this milieu have failed—such as The Commuter and Run all Night).
What this film has going for it as well is that—and this is so rare—the director of the Norwegian original is helming this one, Hans Petter Moland.
Emmy Rossum and Tom Bateman also star in Cold Pursuit, opening everywhere February 8, 2019.
