Not only is Michael Myers back, but the woman he haunts, Jamie Lee Curtis, has returned as well as the Halloween trailer has finally landed to drop our collective jaws.
The sequel to the ionic horror film takes place four decades after the first film, and interesting to note—completely pretends all the other sequels never took place.
It’s a nice move for Universal and Blumhouse as they seek to erase the past, except for the events of the first film. As such, they have wiped clean the slate and anticipation for the upcoming slasher film could not be higher.
Curtis is back as Laurie Strode, and from the teaser below it appears that she has spent that last 40 years just a wee bit paranoid that her masked, knife-wielding, killer could show up at any time to finish the job he started all those decades ago. Good thing she’s ready, because on this particular Halloween it won’t be kids dressed as ghouls and goblins that will be doing all the terror wielding. Myers has broken out of prison and we all know where he’s going… (cue the iconic theme song).
Judy Greer also stars as Laurie’s daughter (yay!) and Andi Matichak tackles the role of Laurie’s granddaughter. Growing up under her maternal watch must have been an interesting experience, as I’m sure we’ll find out when Halloween lands just in time for… Halloween!
David Gordon Green (Stronger) helms the long-in-the-making sequel from a screenplay he penned with none other than Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley.
Look for the chills to go through the roof when Halloween slashes its way into theaters October 19.
