The first trailer for director Steve McQueen’s follow up to 12 Years a Slave has finally arrived. The supremely talented helmer has kept us waiting for several years for his next film after that Oscar winning marvel and it appears from this first Widows trailer, it is more than worth the wait.
The story centers on four titular characters, who have all been widowed after their husbands perished after stealing a boatload of cash. The quartet must pull a heist of their own in order to pay off the debt left by their passed-on husbands. Making things much tenser, is that law enforcement and the evil doers who pushed their husbands the first time around are simultaneously putting pressure on them.
The ladies involved are quite the quartet of superstars, including Oscar winner Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki and Cynthia Erivo. The top-notch cast does not end there, with Liam Neeson, Robert Duvall, Jon Bernthal, Jackie Weaver, Carrie Coon, Colin Farrell and Daniel Kaluuya all playing parts.
Widows lands in theaters November 16. Want one more reason to have the anticipation turned up to 11 on this one? How about the fact that the story comes from Gone Girl scribe Gillian Flynn.
