The first trailer for Universal Pictures’ The House with The Clock in Its Walls has landed. Immediately, one thing becomes heartwarmingly clear about this gothic thriller… it has a feel of those classic Amblin family-friendly movies of days gone by.
The film stars Jack Black and two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett. The House with The Clock in Its Walls follows the story of a ten-year-old, Lewis, who comes to to live with his uncle (Black).
Soon after his arrival, he discovers a world of magic when he unknowingly wakes the deceased.
Blanchett portrays the witch next door, not a bad neighbor to have when the dead are coming back to life and wreaking havoc on your neighborhood.
The latest from Eli Roth and Amblin Entertainment gives us a feel that harks back to another era, think Goonies, but a wee bit more dark and serious — yet still approachable for younger viewers.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls also features Kyle MacLachlan, Owen Vaccaro, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Sunny Suljic, Vanessa Anne Williams, Colleen Camp and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
