Daddy’s Home 2 Trailer: Two More Dads!

The Daddy’s Home 2 trailer has landed and it seems to follow the general rule of sequels… more is better.

In this case, it is a case of multiplying. Our Dads (Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell) are multiplied by two in this Christmas-set film. Wahlberg’s Dusty has his father (played by Mel Gibson) come in for the holiday and Ferrell’s Brad also has a father (portrayed by John Lithgow) arrive to celebrate the “most wonderful time of the year.”

Daddy’s Home arrived in 2015, the film became a surprise smash, banking $242 million globally before all was said and done. When a movie does that well on a remarkably small budget, especially a comedy, then we are easily going to get a second chapter.

It seems by adding the two new Dads, Paramount and the team behind Daddy’s Home 2 have found a means to deliver the laughs. After all, who doesn’t want to see Gibson’s tough guy grandpa mingle with Lithgow’s let’s hug it out papa?

Throw in Ferrell and Wahlberg reprising their roles of sons who don’t fall too far from their paternal papa trees, and this thing just might work when it rolls into cinemas — smartly for the holidays — on November 10.

Daddy’s Home 2 will find two dads and two granddads — who could not be more different — trying to find some common ground as their differences hopefully elicit humorous responses from the audience.
